Mark Harmon’s departure from NCIS occurred recently. Despite the fact that Harmon and Leroy Gibbs have only been absent from the show for a short time, many fans are already wondering if they will ever return.
Mark Harmon always like to keep the door open for his ‘NCIS’ return
Harmon left NCIS on excellent and amicable terms. Fans recall his character bidding farewell to his teammates while deciding to pursue a tranquil life. Harmon felt it could not have been a more suitable conclusion for the revered leader.
However, Harmon expressed that Gibbs’ decision did not necessarily mark the end of his journey.
It was observed that Gibbs did not inform his teammates that he was leaving permanently, but rather that he would be gone for a while.
Has Mark Harmon taken retirement from acting before ‘NCIS: Origins’
Harmon was enquired in an interview with Trib Live, that if he could see Gibbs returning in the show’s potential series finale. A series ending may still be some time away, as NCIS just finished its 21st season and has already been renewed for a 22nd season. With NCIS Origins about to premiere, there are still pieces of the franchise that are in their early stages.
Still, Harmon responded vaguely but intriguingly to a probable series finale cameo.
Harmon will appear in a very limited role in the streaming prequel NCIS: Origins. He will provide narration for the show and may even make a cameo appearance.
Prior to Origins, there was talk that he had withdrawn from acting permanently. He would have considered appearing in a project other than NCIS if it was a good fit.
